Bike sharing in Milan - an update

We already wrote about the bike sharing service offered by the city of Milan and ATM in a previous post.

The last year has seen an increase in the number of users, for both the yearly subscriptions and the temporary ones. 

There are now 2050 bikes, making Milano's bike sharing service the third biggest one in Europe, and 130 station around the city, all of them close to underground or bus stops.

Here  it's possible to download the map with all the bike stations.

At the beginning of June, for two months, until August 5th, it will be possible to use the bikes after midnight, until 2 am from Sunday to Thursday and the whole night on Friday and Sunday.

Bikemi - nuove stazioni e servizio notturno

Abbiamo già parlato del servizio di bike sharing offerto dal Comune di Milano e ATM (vedi il post che ne descriveva il funzonamento).

Nell'ultimo anno il servizio si è esteso, con un aumento del numero di stazioni, per un totale di 130 e di biciclette, arrivate a 2050, a disposizione degli utenti, a seguito anche di un aumento degli abbonamenti non solo annuali ma anche temporanei.

Qui è possibile vedere la mappa aggiornata con tutte le stazioni attive al momento.

Con le 2000 biciclette messe a disposizione, è il terzo servizio in Europa dopo Londra e Barcellona, che dispongono di 8000 e 6000 mezzi rispettivamente.

Dal 4 giugno al 5 agosto è inoltre partito in via sperimentale il servizio notturno Bikemi by night, che estende l'orario di apertura a tutta la notte nei fine settimana, venerdì e sabato, e fino alle 2 del mattino i restanti giorni della settimana. Nel caso la sperimentazione riscuotesse il seccesso sperato, il nuovo orario potrebbe essere prolungato a tutta l'estate.
